New on Prime Video This Week: Top Movies & Series (Oct 26–Nov 1, 2026)

Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video’s week of October 26 to November 1, 2026 is all about November 1, when a big batch of licensed movies arrives. For readers 65 and older, that batch is a treat: Billy Wilder’s best comedy, a Best Picture winner, and a 1940s holiday classic. New series are scarce this week, and we’ll be honest about that below.

Highlights for the Week

What’s the best movie on Prime Video this week?

Some Like It Hot, arriving November 1. Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis in a comedy that still gets big laughs more than 65 years later.

Is there a good holiday movie yet?

Christmas in Connecticut with Barbara Stanwyck lands November 1. It’s gentle, funny, and a lovely way to ease into the season.

Are there any new series worth watching?

Only one scripted series arrives this week, iZombie, and it’s a niche choice. Your best bet on Prime this week is the movie list.

Top New Movies on Prime Video This Week

Nov 1 – Christmas in Connecticut (1945)

Barbara Stanwyck plays a magazine food writer whose readers think she’s a perfect farm wife and cook. She’s neither. When her publisher invites a war hero to spend Christmas at her “farm,” she has to fake the whole thing. Dennis Morgan and Sydney Greenstreet co-star.

This is pure comfort viewing with no content worries at all. Stanwyck is wonderful, and the film is short enough for a weeknight.

Nov 1 – Darkest Hour (2017)

Gary Oldman won the Oscar for playing Winston Churchill in his first weeks as Prime Minister in May 1940, when Britain stood nearly alone against Hitler. Kristin Scott Thomas plays his wife Clementine, with Lily James and Ben Mendelsohn.

History lovers will be glued to this one. It’s rated PG-13 for wartime material, but it’s a drama of speeches and back rooms rather than battle scenes.

Nov 1 – In the Heat of the Night (1967)

Sidney Poitier plays Virgil Tibbs, a Philadelphia detective pulled into a murder case in a small Mississippi town, where he has to work alongside Rod Steiger’s suspicious police chief. Norman Jewison directs, and it won Best Picture.

It holds up beautifully, and Poitier and Steiger are terrific together. Be aware it includes racial slurs and some violence true to its era and setting.

Nov 1 – Some Like It Hot (1959)

Two Chicago jazz musicians witness a mob hit and hide out by joining an all-female band headed to Florida, in disguise. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis are the musicians, Marilyn Monroe is the band’s singer, and Billy Wilder directs.

It’s one of the funniest movies ever made, and the ending line alone is worth the watch. There’s a little mild innuendo, nothing more.

Nov 1 – iZombie (2015)

All five seasons arrive. Rose McIver plays a medical resident who becomes a zombie, takes a job at the morgue so she can eat brains quietly, and picks up the memories of the dead, which she uses to help a detective (Malcolm Goodwin) solve their murders.

Under the odd premise, it’s a witty crime show with a likable cast. Still, it has gore and a lot of zombie business, so it’s only for viewers who enjoy something offbeat. It’s the only new scripted series on Prime this week.
