New on Netflix This Week: Top Movies & Series (Nov 2–Nov 8, 2026)

Netflix

New on Netflix this week (Nov 2 to Nov 8, 2026), picked for viewers 65 and up: a sweet Dennis Quaid Christmas movie, a Hanukkah rom-com, the return of Keira Knightley’s spy thriller, and two easygoing network series you can binge from the start.

Highlights for the Week

What’s the best new Netflix movie to watch with the grandkids this week?

A Dog’s Perfect Christmas, arriving Nov 4. Dennis Quaid and Mary Steenburgen lead a gentle holiday story with a basset hound at the center of it. It’s clean, warm and easy for all ages.

Is there a new series worth a weekend binge?

Yes. All four seasons of Will Trent land Nov 3, and all eight seasons of The Neighborhood arrive Nov 5. One is a solid crime drama, the other a friendly family sitcom, so you have something for either mood.

What if I want something with more edge?

Black Doves Season 2 drops Nov 5. Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw are back, and it’s sharp and fun. Fair warning: there’s real violence and plenty of strong language.

Top New Movies on Netflix This Week

Nov 3 – Menorah in the Middle (2022)

A small Hanukkah romantic comedy. Lucy DeVito plays a woman whose new engagement gets put to the test during a holiday visit with family. Jonah Platt co-stars.

It’s low key and kind, with the family chaos most of us know from our own holiday tables. A nice pick if you want a Hanukkah story among all the Christmas titles. It’s light fare, not a big-budget movie, and that’s part of its charm.

Nov 4 – A Dog’s Perfect Christmas (2026)

A Netflix original based on a W. Bruce Cameron novel, from the author behind A Dog’s Purpose. A teenager, her grandfather and his basset hound try to keep their family together over the holidays. Dennis Quaid and Mary Steenburgen star.

This is the easy family choice of the week. The grandfather is a big part of the story, which many of our readers will enjoy, and there’s nothing here you’d need to fast-forward past with the little ones. Keep tissues handy; dog movies usually earn a few tears.

Nov 4 – Deck the Hallways (2025)

A Bay Area executive heads home to Chicago for Christmas and finds that her widowed grandmother has quietly given up the family’s holiday traditions. Naika Toussaint stars with Loretta Devine as the grandmother.

Loretta Devine is a treat in anything, and this story gives the grandmother real weight instead of a walk-on. It’s a TV-movie style holiday film, so expect a familiar shape and a happy ending. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want on a cold night.

Nov 5 – Deck the Halls (2006)

Matthew Broderick plays a buttoned-up optometrist whose new neighbor, Danny DeVito, decides to cover his house in so many lights it can be seen from space. Kristin Chenoweth co-stars.

Critics weren’t kind to it, but it’s a silly, harmless PG comedy that plays well with kids and grandkids. If you liked Christmas with the Kranks, you’ll know what you’re getting.

Top New TV Series on Netflix This Week

Nov 3 – St. Denis Medical Season 2 (2024)

NBC’s mockumentary sitcom about the overworked staff of an underfunded Oregon hospital. Wendi McLendon-Covey, David Alan Grier and Allison Tolman lead the cast.

If you’ve spent time in a waiting room lately, you’ll laugh in recognition. It’s in the style of The Office, with short episodes and a big heart under the jokes. Mostly mild content.

Nov 3 – Will Trent Seasons 1-4 (2023)

The ABC crime drama based on Karin Slaughter’s novels. Ramón Rodríguez plays a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent who grew up in foster care and solves cases with an unusual eye for detail. Erika Christensen and Sonja Sohn co-star.

It’s a dependable weekly-procedural binge, with a lead character you’ll root for. Four seasons is a lot of good company for the winter. Some cases deal with violent crime and child abuse, so it isn’t a pick for the grandkids.

Nov 5 – Black Doves Season 2 (2024)

Keira Knightley plays Helen, a London spy who has been passing secrets for years. In Season 2 she’s pulled into a desperate hunt for answers after an attack on Reed, while Ben Whishaw’s assassin Sam faces a deadly ultimatum.

Smart, stylish and very British. If you enjoyed Slow Horses, try it. You’ll want to have seen Season 1 first, and be ready for graphic shootouts and a lot of swearing.

Nov 5 – The Neighborhood Seasons 1-8 (2018)

The CBS sitcom about an overly friendly Midwestern dad, Max Greenfield, who moves his family into a Los Angeles neighborhood and next door to a skeptical Cedric the Entertainer. Tichina Arnold co-stars.

A classic, comfortable family sitcom with a laugh track and short episodes. Cedric is reliably funny, and it’s mostly safe to share with older grandkids. All eight seasons arrive at once, so you’re set for a while.
