What to eat and where to eat.

bunch of candies

Easter baskets have always had a personality of their own. Yours might have been stuffed with jelly beans and chocolate bunnies every spring. Your neighbor’s might have been all about those bright little marshmallow chicks. Turns out, those differences run deeper than you might think, all the way to state lines.

Innerbody Research used Google Trends data to find the most-searched Easter candy in each state in the weeks leading up to Easter 2026. The results are a fun little snapshot of what America is craving this spring.

Peeps Still Rule the Roost

Love them or leave them, Peeps are still the undisputed king of Easter candy. They drew more search interest than any other treat, and a whopping 17 states named them their top pick.

Strong Peeps territory runs through the Midwest and beyond, from Kansas and Oklahoma up through Pennsylvania, where those little marshmallow chicks have been made for decades. About 5.5 million of them are produced every single day.

Rounding out the national top five are chocolate bunnies, jelly beans, Reese’s Eggs, and Swedish Fish, a mix of old-school Easter staples and more modern favorites.

The Rest of the Map Tells a Different Story

Once you zoom in state by state, things get interesting. Jelly beans (both Starburst and Jelly Belly) are big in states like Georgia, North Carolina, and Minnesota. Coastal states, including Connecticut, New York, and Oregon, all lean toward Swedish Fish.

Chocolate still holds its ground. Reese’s Eggs top the list in Illinois, Utah, and Washington. Robin Eggs are the pick in Arkansas, Kentucky, and Missouri. And Jordan Almonds (a candy that goes back generations) came out on top in both California and Texas, as well as Ohio, Michigan, Virginia, and Florida.

Chocolate bunnies rank as the number two Easter candy nationally, but only two states (New Jersey and Delaware) actually crown them as their top choice.

A few states march to their own drummer entirely. Maine goes for Cadbury Creme Eggs. Mississippi prefers Kinder Eggs. Tennessee? Easter M&Ms. Louisiana even splits its love between Jolly Rancher Gummies and Reese’s Eggs.
