New on Prime Video This Week: Top Movies & Series (Aug 17–23, 2026)

Prime Video

Here are the best new movies arriving on Amazon Prime Video in the United States this week, August 17 to 23, 2026, chosen with viewers 65 and older in mind. It is a movie-heavy week, with a feel-good comedy, a sports documentary, and a couple of titles that come with a warning.

Highlights for the Week

What is the easiest watch this week?

Good Fortune, a gentle comedy with Keanu Reeves as a bumbling guardian angel. It is light, warm, and full of familiar faces.

Is there anything for sports fans?

Yes. A new documentary on tennis champion Novak Djokovic comes from the director of The Last Dance, and it is a polished, reflective watch.

Did any new series arrive?

Not this week. Prime Video added movies only between August 17 and 23, so our picks below are all films.

Top New Movies on Prime Video This Week

Aug 17 – Blue Beetle (2023)

A recent college graduate bonds with an alien scarab that grants him a suit of armor and superpowers. Xolo Mariduena of Cobra Kai leads, with George Lopez and Susan Sarandon in support.

This is a good-natured pick for an afternoon with the grandchildren. The action is comic-book style, and the warm, close-knit family at its center gives it real charm, even though it plays to a younger crowd.

Aug 19 – Is God Is (2026)

Twin sisters, scarred in a childhood fire, set out to confront their abusive father at their dying mother’s request. Sterling K. Brown, Vivica A. Fox, and Janelle Monae appear alongside Kara Young and Mallori Johnson.

Critics admired it, but we owe you a firm warning: it is deliberately dark and very violent. Skip it if you prefer a gentle evening, and save it only if you actively seek out serious, intense drama.

Aug 20 – Novak Djokovic: The Wolf in Winter (2026)

Director Jason Hehir, who made The Last Dance, profiles the tennis great from his childhood in war-torn Serbia through his rivalry with Federer and Nadal. Several fellow champions sit down for interviews.

You do not need to follow tennis closely to enjoy it. The film is reflective and handsomely made, with no graphic content, and it makes an easy, satisfying watch for a sports-minded viewer.

Aug 21 – Good Fortune (2025)

Aziz Ansari’s comedy has a well-meaning guardian angel, played by Keanu Reeves, swap the lives of a struggling worker and a wealthy investor. Seth Rogen and Keke Palmer round out the cast.

This is the most relaxing choice of the week, a feel-good comedy that goes down easy. There is some mild adult language, but the mood stays light and kind from start to finish.

New TV Series on Prime Video This Week

No new series arrived on Prime Video in the United States this week. The one non-movie title, the Djokovic documentary listed above, is a standalone film, so we have kept it with the movies.
