New on Prime Video This Week: Stephen King’s Carrie Series Leads (Oct 5–11, 2026)

It’s a very quiet week on Prime Video in the US. Between October 5 and 11, 2026, the only new movie or series is Mike Flanagan’s take on Stephen King’s Carrie; everything else on the schedule is live sports. Here’s our honest take for viewers 65 and up.

Highlights for the Week

What’s new on Prime Video this week?

Just one title: Carrie (Oct 7), an eight-episode horror series based on Stephen King’s first novel. No new movies arrive this week, so it’s a good time to dig into the library instead.

Is the new Carrie series a good fit for older viewers?

Probably not for most. It’s well reviewed, but it’s a horror story about a bullied teenager with a deeply abusive mother, and it gets violent. If you saw the 1976 Sissy Spacek film and liked it, you might be curious. Otherwise, skip it.

New Movies on Prime Video This Week

No new movies arrived on Prime Video in the US between October 5 and 11, 2026. The only new additions were Carrie and live sports, which we don’t cover here.

Top New TV Series on Prime Video This Week

Only one new series arrived this week.

Oct 7 – Carrie (2026)

Mike Flanagan, who made The Haunting of Hill House, turns Stephen King’s 1974 novel into an eight-episode series, all released at once. Summer H. Howell plays Carrie White, a shy girl with a fiercely religious mother (Samantha Sloyan) who discovers she can move things with her mind. Matthew Lillard co-stars.

Critics like it, and Flanagan is good at character drama. Still, this one is aimed at younger horror fans. It’s rated TV-14 and deals with teen bullying, religious abuse and violence. Fans of the original film may want a look; everyone else can safely pass.
