New on Prime Video This Week: Top Movies & Series (Oct 12–18, 2026)

This is what is new on Prime Video in the US for the week of October 12 to 18, 2026, with notes for viewers 65 and up. It is a short list this week: three movies and two series, so we have included all of them along with honest heads-ups.

Highlights for the Week

What is the best new movie on Prime Video this week?

Masterplan (2026), arriving October 16. Stanley Tucci plays a seasoned thief who recruits two strangers to steal the Mona Lisa, then tells them they are his children. It sounds like a fun, light caper, and Tucci is always good company.

Is there a romance for a quiet night in?

Love of Your Life (2026) lands October 14. Margaret Qualley plays a grieving nurse who escapes to Portugal and meets someone who helps her heal. Bring tissues.

Anything to skip if horror is not your thing?

Scream 7 (2026) also arrives October 16. It is gory and R-rated, so it is really only for longtime fans of the series.

Top New Movies on Prime Video This Week

Only three new movies arrived on Prime Video this week, so all three are listed below.

Oct 14 – Love of Your Life (2026)

Margaret Qualley plays Maya, a Boston ER nurse who runs off to Portugal after a terrible loss. There she meets Felix (Aaron Pierre), who may help her face her grief. Catherine Keener, Gabriel Basso and Patrick Schwarzenegger co-star, and Oscar-nominated cinematographer Rachel Morrison directs.

It is a grown-up romance about grief and starting over, which many of us understand all too well. The Portugal scenery should be lovely. Expect some sad moments early on.

Oct 16 – Masterplan (2026)

Stanley Tucci plays a veteran thief who recruits two strangers (Simona Tabasco and Victor Belmondo) for one last job: stealing the Mona Lisa. The twist is that he tells them they are his children.

A heist plus a family reunion is a pretty charming mix, and Tucci makes almost anything watchable. For a relaxed evening, this looks like the easiest choice on the list.

Oct 16 – Scream 7 (2026)

The slasher series continues, with Neve Campbell back as Sidney Prescott and Scream creator Kevin Williamson in the director’s chair.

Fair warning: this is bloody, R-rated horror. If you enjoyed the original in 1996 you may be curious, but most viewers 65+ can happily skip it.

Top New TV Series on Prime Video This Week

Just two new series arrived this week, and both are listed below.

Oct 14 – Helluva Boss Season 3 (2026)

An adult animated comedy about a small business of imps who work as hitmen in Hell. It is a spinoff of Hazbin Hotel. The first three episodes of Season 3 arrive October 14, with more each week.

We are listing it for completeness, but it is crude, violent and full of bad language. Most of our readers will want to pass, and it is definitely not for grandkids despite being a cartoon.

Oct 16 – Hometown Giants (2026)

A six-episode docuseries following the Vancouver Giants junior hockey team through the 2025-26 season. Singer Michael Bublé and Property Brothers star Drew Scott are co-owners trying to end a championship drought that goes back to 2007.

This is the most wholesome thing on Prime Video this week. It is part sports story and part coming-of-age story, with teenage players living away from home. Hockey fans and Bublé fans alike should enjoy it.
