New on Hulu This Week: Top Movies & Series (Sep 28–Oct 4, 2026)

Here’s what’s new on Hulu for the week of September 28 to October 4, 2026, picked for viewers 65 and older. Hulu’s October 1 drop is mostly familiar movies, which suits us fine, and the week also brings a new Nat Geo nature series and the return of a few TV favorites. We passed on the heavier horror titles like The Substance, Barbarian and Hereditary.

What’s the best new series on Hulu this week?

Africa Earth’s Wild Home, arriving October 3. It’s a new National Geographic nature series filmed over four years across Africa, and it looks spectacular.

What can I watch with the grandkids?

Night at the Museum and Hotel Transylvania both arrive October 1 and work well for younger kids. America’s Funniest Home Videos, back on September 28, is good for every age.

Is there a classic movie worth watching again?

Ghostbusters and Die Hard both land October 1. Ghostbusters is fine for older kids; Die Hard is rated R and better saved for the adults.

Top New Movies on Hulu This Week

Oct 1 – Die Hard (1988)

Bruce Willis plays New York cop John McClane, who is visiting his wife in Los Angeles when terrorists led by Alan Rickman take over her office tower during a Christmas party.

It’s one of the best action movies ever made, and Rickman’s villain is still a joy. It’s rated R for violence and language, so leave the little ones out of it. The three sequels also arrive October 1.

Oct 1 – Ghostbusters (1984)

Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis play three out-of-work scientists who start a ghost-catching business in New York. Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis co-star.

Perfect for October and a good one for grandkids around 10 and up. It’s PG, though a couple of scenes can scare little children, and there’s some mild language.

Oct 1 – Hotel Transylvania (2012)

In this animated comedy, Dracula (voiced by Adam Sandler) runs a hotel for monsters and panics when a human backpacker (Andy Samberg) falls for his daughter (Selena Gomez).

This is the easy Halloween pick for younger grandkids. It’s PG, silly and not scary at all. The sequel arrives the same day if they want more.

Oct 1 – Night at the Museum (2006)

Ben Stiller plays a night guard at New York’s Museum of Natural History who learns the exhibits come to life after dark. Robin Williams plays Teddy Roosevelt, and Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Rooney play retired guards.

It’s a family movie that works for every age, and seeing Van Dyke and Rooney together is a treat. Rated PG. Both sequels also arrive October 1.

Top New TV Series on Hulu This Week

Sep 28 – America’s Funniest Home Videos (1989)

The ABC classic starts its 37th season, with Alfonso Ribeiro hosting the usual mix of pet mishaps, toddler moments and backyard wipeouts sent in by viewers.

Still one of the best series for all ages. It’s short, clean and guaranteed to get a laugh out of kids and grandparents alike. New episodes follow the day after they air on ABC.

Oct 1 – Shark Tank (2009)

Season 18 begins with a two-episode premiere. Entrepreneurs pitch their businesses to a panel of wealthy investors in hopes of landing a deal.

It’s fun to guess which pitches will work, and plenty of the products are things you’ll want to buy. Clean enough to watch with anyone.
