New on HBO Max This Week: Top Movies & Series (Oct 19–25, 2026)

HBO Max

HBO Max has a small but fun week, October 19 to 25, 2026. This guide is for viewers 65 and up and covers movies and series only, so the hockey, wrestling and racing are left out. You get two comedies, a true-crime series from Argentina, and more House Hunters.

Highlights for the Week

What’s the best new movie on HBO Max this week?

The Invite, from director Olivia Wilde, starts streaming Friday. It’s a dinner-party comedy with Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton, and it’s about marriage more than anything else.

Is there something easy and relaxing?

House Hunters: Volume 11 adds new episodes on Friday. It’s the same comfortable formula: three houses, one couple, and a decision you’ll probably disagree with.

Anything to know before pressing play?

Anyone But You and The Invite are both R-rated comedies with frank sexual talk. The Flores Massacre is a true-crime series about the killing of a family, so it’s heavy viewing.

Top New Movies on HBO Max This Week

Only two new movies arrived on HBO Max this week.

Oct 20 – Anyone But You (2023)

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell play Bea and Ben, two people who had one great date and then couldn’t stand each other. When they end up at the same destination wedding in Australia, they pretend to be a couple to get their families off their backs. It’s loosely based on Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.

It’s a breezy, sunny romantic comedy with beautiful Sydney scenery, and the parents in the cast (including Dermot Mulroney and Rachel Griffiths) get some good laughs. Heads-up: it’s rated R for sexual content, language and some nudity, so it’s better for a night on your own than with the grandkids.

Oct 23 – The Invite (2026)

Seth Rogen and Olivia Wilde play Joe and Angela, a married couple in San Francisco who invite their upstairs neighbors to dinner. Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton play the neighbors. Angela wants new friends; Joe just wants them to stop making so much noise. The evening gets more revealing than anyone planned.

This is an adult comedy about a long marriage, and couples who’ve been together a while may see themselves in it. The cast is excellent, and Wilde also directed. Expect frank conversation about sex and an unconventional relationship, along with plenty of strong language.

Top New TV Series on HBO Max This Week

Only two new series arrived on HBO Max this week.

Oct 22 – The Flores Massacre (2026)

This three-part Argentine documentary revisits a 1994 arson attack in Buenos Aires that killed five people, including the parents and two brothers of 16-year-old Matías Bagnato. Matías survived. Oscar-winning filmmaker Juan José Campanella talks with him on camera, and the series uses archive footage plus interviews with family, journalists and lawyers.

True-crime fans who like careful, serious documentaries will find this worth their time. It’s three episodes of about 45 minutes each. It is sad and upsetting, though, since it deals with the murder of a family. It’s in Spanish, so plan on subtitles.

Oct 23 – House Hunters: Volume 11 (2026)

HGTV’s long-running show adds a new batch of episodes. Each half hour follows a buyer touring three homes, weighing price, location and that all-important kitchen, before picking one.

It’s comfort TV at its best: no violence, no bad language and nothing you have to remember from last week. It’s also a fun one to watch with family and argue over which house they should have picked.
